About

Hi, I’m Brittany.

Although I spent a majority of my formative years with my nose in a book, winning my third grade class’ Budding Author Award marked the moment I began thinking of myself as writer.

I eventually went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Creative Writing -as well as a second Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Library and Information Science- from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Until recently, I worked as a Youth Services Librarian in the Chicagoland area for just under a decade, wrote book reviews for School Library Journal for 6 years, and served a 3 year term on the Illinois state Rebecca Caudill Young Readers’ Book Award evaluation committee.

I am currently dedicating my days to various writing projects -namely a memoir, young adult realistic fiction novel, and bursts of poetry when inspiration strikes- with hopes to publish in the not-too-distant future. For now, check out my work that lives on the internet.

When I’m not writing, you can usually find me chasing after my newly mobile son (or reading to him when he feels like sitting still!), snuggling my dog while catching up on reality TV, pondering one of my favorite podcasts during a walk around my Chicago neighborhood, or dreaming up my next travel adventure.

That’s my story. What’s yours?
